With this song, my goal was to make Reverend Mother’s character and personality come through as much as possible. I tried to incorporate movements referencing her past as a tightrope walker and her passion for musical theatre. I was also guided by Sister Hubert’s line, “Well, you’re turning out to be a regular Sophie Tucker!”, implying that some of this number may be a bit risqué for a nun.
Research/ Notes on Lyrics
- Reverend Mother says that this is much more fun than bingo, maybe referencing how Sr. Hubert’s enjoyment of the game.
- The Dalai Lama is a Buddhist political and spiritual leader.
